Animation Director (Multiplayer Action)

We are looking for an Animation Director to join the early development of a new, AAA, Unreal 5 multiplayer action game. This bold project aims to break new ground in multiplayer, blending gameplay mechanics in new ways and deeply embedding storytelling elements into a unique universe. We’re building an elite, diverse first-party team and this is your opportunity to help shape a future blockbuster!
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Art Director and Technical Art Director to develop and drive the artistic vision for this project
- Take responsibility at Director level for all aspects of in-game and cutscene animation - setting quality standards and leading the animation team in delivery of these
- Support recruitment for and career development of the projects animation team
- Bring your own experience of best working practices to the team
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Animation Director on at least one shipped PC or console title (preferably AAA)
- Experience with motion capture pipelines, a deep understanding of the pitfalls and the ability to make the right strategic decisions early on to avoid them
- Experience directing motion capture shoots and performance capture
- A strong cinematic background, with a deep understanding of cinematic craft and tools
- An expert knowledge of the animation process and fundamentals
- Previous experience with Unreal Engine or a proprietary engine
- Familiar with one or more types of Animation software (Maya, MotionBuilder, etc.)
- Have an understanding of mo-cap rigs at a high level
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Approachable, with a proactive attitude towards cross discipline communication
- Familiarity with DevOps processes
- An intuition for, and interest in, multiplayer action games
