Job Summary:
Square Enix is looking for a passionate gamer with enormous potential to grow as a data analyst or data scientist. Our initial offering of a full-time paid internship position for a minimum period of 6 months has the possibility to lead to a junior position for the right candidate. Regrettably, we are unable to provide a working visa.
The Analytics & Insight department at Square Enix is responsible for understanding user behaviour, using data collected from our players, games and marketing channels. The department consists of bright and dedicated analysts and data scientists who provide impactful deliveries across topics spanning game production, marketing, web and sales.
Within this department, the mission of the Data Science team is to find signals of customer engagement and set up automatic processes to strengthen our relationship with customers and their satisfaction.
Requirements
Key Deliverables:
This is a trainee role where you can expect to learn from experts. In turn, you will be expected to learn essential skills yourself through exposure to data science projects
The role will include (but isn't limited to) deep diving into Final Fantasy XIV data, so experience playing the game or similar would be a big plus
We will help you to learn skills that will enable you to perform the following responsibilities:
Analytics
- Create ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines using SQL
- Conduct data cleaning, aggregation using SQL
- Extract insights from data using SQL and Python
- Apply statistics, machine learning or mathematical modelling to the data
Business
- Attend meetings with internal partners to understand business needs
- Explaining complex ideas to non-data literate audience
Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
- Experience in Python (or equivalent)
- Comfortable with exploring data
- Knowledge of basic statistics, machine learning and mathematical modelling
Competencies, Skills & Attributes:
Essential:
- An avid gamer who plays games as a hobby. Especially those who play online games on consoles or mobile devices
- An interest in human behaviour
- Appreciation of marketing and customer management
- Comfortable working with people of many different levels of seniority and skillsets across multiple locations
Other:
Education:
Bachelors or Masters in Data Science, Applied Statistics, Behavioural Economics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or relevant scientific field
