Accounts Assistant

Overview
Working closely with the Head of Finance, this role will provide day-to-day support operationally and be a key member of the finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a well-established and successful business at an exciting time of growth.
The successful candidate would be keen to learn, building on core finance knowledge gained in previous roles.
Responsibilities
- Management of Accounts email inbox, responding to queries or escalating as required
- Administration of invoices:
- Checking, qualifying, and entering details onto Accounts system
- Liaising with stakeholders and budget holders for invoice approvals
- Setting up payments for authorisation, and further supporting Head of Finance with invoice processing as required
- Liaise with publishers regarding overdue invoices for payment
- Weekly bank reconciliations
- Monthly credit card reconciliations
- Assist with the production of month-end accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and administer staff expense and petty cash claims, and handle expense queries from staff as necessary
- Assist in preparation of VAT returns
- Assist Head of Finance with year-end audit and accounts processes, responding to auditor queries as needed
- Support with budgeting and forecasting for the business
- Act as back-up support for monthly staff payroll reports as necessary
Requirements
Skills and Experience Required
- AAT Qualified
- At least 2 years experience in a similar role
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Office 365 and at least one accounting system.
- Ideally used to working in a small team, happy to get involved wherever needed, and comfortable using own initiative
- Any experience with inter-company accounting processes would be an advantage
- A meticulous eye for detail and accuracy
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central would be an advantage
