This Accounting Manager role is responsible for the strategic development and ongoing operations of Striking Distance Studios’ growing Accounts Payable (AP) and Payroll functions.
AP Responsibilities:
- Continuous improvement of vendor payables process
- Supports the vendor relationships and inquiries through phone contact and email.
- Manage invoice process to ensure proper invoice approvals and GL account coding are provided.
- Triangulate contracted statement of work contracts, services received, and invoices.
- Manage expense transactions to ensure credit card and employee reimbursements are documented and receipts are attached.
- Assist month-end closing duties regarding expense accruals and AP liabilities.
- Interface with stakeholders on various areas relating to vendor management, invoices remediation, and reconciling discrepancies.
Payroll Responsibilities:
- Performs full-cycle processing, payroll data validation, and auditing for semi-monthly payroll cycles
- Manages implementation and continuous improvement for HR ERP Systems that provide payroll source-information
- Manages payroll journal entries including liabilities, expenses, and 401(k) reconciliations
- Communicates with employees and managers with respect to internal systems, timesheet reporting, timesheet submissions, and wage statements
- Drives preparation and issuance of annual Form W-2 and 1099
- Supports audits related to financials, 401(k), and other investigation as required
Qualifications:
- 6+ years relevant experience operating payables and payroll.
- Experience with Bill.com, Concur, Workday, and SAP
- Fluency with GAAP standards pertaining to payroll operating expenses and to current liabilities
- Strong work ethic including sound judgement, outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
- Experience with cross-functional communication to accomplish objectives and to remediate issues
- Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
- Intermediate Excel skills
