Academy Programmer - Near Light

We have an amazing opportunity to join our nDreams Academy as a Programmer at Near Light. This role is offered as a six-month contract with a salary of £25,000 per annum (pro-rata) with the opportunity to move into a full-time role.

We are looking for an Academy Programmer to help bring our unannounced next-gen VR game to life at Near Light. You will be collaborating with a talented team to help us explore, create, and deliver innovative software.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Build high-quality, scalable features for our exciting AAA-quality VR games.
- Exchange ideas and technical plans with the code, art and design team.
- Guide features through the full development cycle – starting with rapid prototyping, and evolving through production development, iteration/balancing and bug fixing.
- Share your understanding of 3D maths, data structures, and performance-minded development and optimisation skills.
- Learn and collaborate with a multi-discipline team, empowering artists and designers.
Requirements
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for nDreamers who:
- Have 3D game programming experience – a recent graduate or entry-level position.
- Have a good knowledge of C++, including high-performance programming.
- Have proven, demonstrable knowledge of 3D maths and programming concepts such as transform hierarchies, matrices, quaternions, vectors, and how to use them to realise gameplay features inside a modern game engine.

- Are results-driven, ambitious, and committed to producing work of the highest quality.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible to join the nDreams Academy you will:
- Have under 6 months industry experience.
- Have left education within the last 2 years.
- Be based in the UK.
- Be eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills relevant to the discipline of which you have applied.
- Be within commutable distance of the Brighton studio.
