Academy 3D Systems Programmer - Studio Elevation (Remote within UK)

We have an amazing opportunity to join our nDreams Academy as a 3D Systems Programmer at Elevation Studio. This role is offered as a six-month contract with a salary of £25,000 per annum (pro-rata) with the opportunity to move into a full-time role.

✈ The role is Remote-First – you can work from anywhere in the UK with a good internet connection and professional home-working environment.
This role will help you acquire skills utilising industry tools, an understanding of the development process and real games industry experience, all while working alongside experienced professionals. As a 3D Systems Programmer, you will be responsible for expanding our world-class VR interaction technologies, helping provide a level of immersion and presence not yet seen in VR games.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Developing game technology and content for cutting-edge VR hardware using Unreal 5
- Improve the C++ systems and blueprint that allow the player to manipulate the world and objects
- Maintain and enhance the C++ systems that animate characters when grabbing objects or scenery
- Develop supporting editing tools, pipelines, blueprints and content
- Maintain readable, well-designed, performant and commented C++ and blueprints
- Support the design and art teams using the systems and generate documentation and samples
- Break down and estimate timescales for your tasks with help from your lead
Requirements
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for nDreamers who:
- Understand 3D geometric maths including transform hierarchies, matrices, quaternions, IK systems, vector/plane projection, dot/cross product and how to combine these to develop real-time 3D systems
- Have solid, demonstrable programming capabilities
- Have either a computer science or similar degree, a non-games-industry programming job, or provable programming experience with a portfolio of your own games or relevant technology demos.
- Have a good working knowledge of Unreal Engine or similar engine such as Unity
- Share, believe, and demonstrate our nDreams behaviors.
- Show a positive, solution-orientated attitude that empowers others.
- Are results-driven, ambitious, and committed to producing work of the highest quality.
Preferred Characteristics:
- A thorough knowledge of C++
- Some knowledge of Unreal’s character animation system and VR development experience
Who is eligible?
To be eligible to join the nDreams Academy you will:
- Have under 6 months industry experience.
- Have left education within the last 2 years.
- Be based in the UK.
- Be eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills relevant to the discipline of which you have applied.
