ANIMATION - Lead Gameplay Animator (Fulltime Remote/Hybrid)

Our team is looking for a Lead Gameplay Animator who will inspire and mentor a team of talented animators to raise our bar and create a wide range of compelling and memorable character experiences. To achieve this, you will be working across disciplines to set expectations, guide performances and improve the process along the way. Empowering the team to craft animations that are both responsive and expressive!
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Creative and Animation Direction to determine the visual performances of our characters that will meet both character gameplay and needs.
- Lead and Inspire team of Animators to craft a variety of high-quality content.
- Manage, mentor the professional and creative growth of animation team.
- Work with production to create project deliverables and manage scope.
- Be an active advocate for the animation teams needs and goals and communicate those across the studio – to all levels of management.
- Ability to grow the team through identifying and hiring future team members.
- Propose and contribute to the design of game play systems.
- Advocate for the constant improvement of animation pipeline and workflow improvements.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and drive when performing job functions, while remaining flexible in undertaking other activities and responsibilities that may arise.
- Create both Mocap and Keyframe animations.
- Collaborate and provide feedback to external vendors.
- Plan and Direct motion capture shoots.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as a gameplay or interactive animator.
- 1+ shipped AAA title in a Lead Animator/Manager role.
- Excellent ability to provide animation feedback through verbal or written notes.
- Advanced experience working with motion capture data and workflows.
- Expert understanding of animation systems and development.
- Ability to take and implement direction and have the flexibility to make changes and edits based on gameplay or creative needs.
- Experience creating realistic animation with a strong emphasis on acting performance.
- Be resourceful and seek progress through creative, inventive problem-solving methods.
- Awareness of new software/tech and how to benefit most from it.
- Understands the Return on Investment of the team’s tasks and can manage their work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should be able to work with designers, character artists, technical artist, and programmers.
- Demo reel or portfolio demonstrating excellence in animation & an expert understanding of the principles of animation.
Bonus Factors- Strong drawing skills.
- Experience with MotionBuilder
- Base experience producing cinematic animation.
- Camera Layout Experience.
