3D Hard Surface Artist

3D Hard Surface Artist (f/m/d)
As a Hard Surface Artist, you are someone who loves modeling everything hard surface (vehicles, weapons, sci-fi architecture etc.) and cares deeply about functionality. Your primary duties, under the direction of the art director and lead artist are in 3D modeling, texturing, and world building. In collaboration with technical artists and production you will assure that assets are beautiful as well as technically feasible, while fitting into timeframe budgets.

Responsibilities
- Creating hard surface assets from detailed concepts or rough sketches, producing mechanically sound results, built to empower animators to push the animation quality to the next level
- Studying, implementing and advancing the quality and art direction of the project with your work, whether it be realistic or stylized
- Collaborating with your team and the lead artist to maintain and push the modelling, texturing, and material creation standards, making it easy to produce consistent high quality results
- Working with outsourcing partners to support the overall production volume
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in professional game development
- Excellent modelling and texturing skills
- Expert knowledge of at least one content creation tool for modelling (eg. 3ds Max, Blender, Modo, etc.) and texturing (eg. Substance, Photoshop etc.)
- Strong understanding of scale, proportion, surface properties and articulation
- Ability to take and apply direction and work well in an interdisciplinary team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Passion for videogames
Desirable skills
- Experience designing weapons, vehicles or similar
- Knowledge or experience with the rigging and animation pipeline for hard surface assets
- Experience working with Unreal Engine 4
- Having shipped a game in a similar role
