Senior 3D Environment Artist

Are you looking for an opportunity to work with a growing team of Artists, Animators, and Designers for an exciting new project? Do you consider yourself an inspirational, passionate, and collaborative Artist who is able to deliver projects on-time and is excited to work with a team of highly respected Game Developers?
Stoic is seeking a Mid or Senior level Environment Artist for the development of our next project. You will help us take the project from Production through launch and into live support. In this position you will work closely with our Environment Art Lead and an extended team of highly creative Designers, Artists, and Engineers.
What You Will Do
- Produce stylized environment assets in Maya, with hand painted textures, and final integration in Unreal
- Set dress maps in Unreal while adhering to technical constraints
- Work efficiently to produce high-quality artwork within set deadlines
- Embrace a unique art style and help maintain / support it
- Be proactive and an active contributor to ideas, meetings, and the project
Need to Have
- Ability to contribute to an established, detailed art style based on animated film backgrounds
- Fundamental grasp on lighting, form, color, naturalistic detail, and composition
- Technical knowledge of Maya
- Strong hand painted texture skills
- Knowledge of digital painting software (Photoshop, Substance, ZBrush preferred)
- Knowledge of modern engines (Unreal 4 preferred)
- Knowledge of Unreal 4's Material system and native environment tools such as terrain and paint tools
- Familiarity with texture map techniques (Normal, Specular, Emissive, Displacement, etc.)
- Understanding of performance of environments (distribution of memory footprint, rendering costs, streaming costs, etc)
- Basic knowledge of Blueprints and their uses
Nice to Have
- Experience in Console or PC AAA titles
- Familiarity with best-in-class Games as a Service (GaaS)
- Experience with environments for fighting games or other games with fixed cameras
- Knowledge of procedural content generation
- Knowledge of Matte painting
- Experience with destructible environment

United States Pay Range
$110,000 - $130,000 USD
This range is determined by several factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. It is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
The final job level and compensation will be determined by the candidate’s work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and other business considerations.
