Description:

The Lead Character Artist will be responsible for creating top notch CG game art and to ensure the quality bar is met from the art team. The Lead Character Artist will be responsible for creating and overseeing all aspects of modeling and texturing pertaining to character creation, as well as the ability to take an idea from concept to final. This person should be evenly balanced in artistic and technical ability and be able to follow the vision as set forth by the Art Director and/or the Content Creation Guide. As a Lead Character Artist you will be expected to possess leadership qualities, mentor junior and intermediate artists, grow the talent pool, and have direct input on workflow pipelines and processes. In addition The Lead Character Artist is also expected to stay up to date on the latest technologies related to game art, and help optimize workflows through practice and hands on approach.

Requirements:

- Expert low and high polygon, organic and non-organic modeling and texturing skills primarily focused on character creation

- Ability to create realistic and stylized character art from concept

- Excellent understanding of human form, anatomy, muscle and bone systems

- Excellent understanding of weight, proportion and exaggeration

- Expert experience with mesh/UV mapping and multiple-pass texture layout

- Expert in Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush or Mudbox

- Expert digital painting and texturing skills

- Excellent conceptual, illustration and design skills

- High level of English and Mandarin proficiency

- 3-5 years+ in games production or related field

- Character work on at least one next gen title

- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to produce with minimal supervision

- Ability to communicate clearly and produce workflow documentation

- Past experience in leading and managing a small team of artists

- Ability to provide feedback to artists to improve quality

- Ability to troubleshoot and Quality Control work

- Previous knowledge of game pipelines and production processes

- Previous experience with Asset Control tools, such as Perforce and Devtrack

- Detail oriented, organized and able to meet project requirements

Desirable Skills:

- Strong technical and communication skills

- 3-5 years+ games production experience

- Strong management and production abilities

- Excellent conceptual, illustration and design skills

- Detail oriented, organized and able to meet project requirements

- Solid understanding of asset management practices

- Good aptitude for problem solving and self-starting with the ability to work with minimal direction

- Expert proficiency in Photoshop and Maya

- Strong understanding of animation principles

- Degree in formal traditional art training
