Summary:
The ideal candidate will show a diverse portfolio of recent samples that demonstrate high artistic aptitude in modeling toys, props, environments and characters, as well as high competency with lighting, texture maps, and shaders. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can work within a highly iterative process as part of a large team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of art production pipelines and art creation tools for mobile and desktop; including Maya, Unity, 3D Coat, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Responsibilities:
- Model and hand paint textures for toys, props, characters, environments and other supporting assets for desktop and mobile platforms.
- Work in conjunction with 2D concept artists to develop high-quality 3D models.
- Export assets from Maya considering level of detail necessary per application.
- Create beautiful and optimized environments and elements in Unity with prefabs, scene editing, interior, and exterior lighting.
- Work in conjunction with Unity engineer to deliver optimized assets.
- Work in conjunction with designers taking grey boxed assets to a shippable state.
- Manage the development, organization, and delivery of final art production assets; and ensure they are consistent with brand, style, and technical requirements.
- Stay current with industry trends and technical advancements used in mobile game development.
- Proven ability to partner with design stakeholders to ensure product visions and quality benchmarks are met.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role as 3D Artist within the games, film, toy or advertising industries.
- Deep understanding of core artistic principles including color, composition, proportion, harmony, contrast, and balance.
- A strong portfolio representing 3D artwork that displays proficiency with Autodesk Maya (or equivalent 3D package), Unity, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- 2+ years of experience producing high-quality stylized 3D assets for shipped games.
- 1+ years of Unity experience with importing assets, creating, configuring and editing prefabs, editing scenes and organizing hierarchies, dynamic and bakes lighting, LODs and occlusion culling.
- Ability to demonstrate strong understanding of asset budgets (poly limits, texture sizes), and performance optimizations (lookups, draw calls, overdraw, etc.)
- 2+ years of experience with hard surface and organic modeling, with or without concept art.
- 2+ years of experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires rapid project turnaround and frequent priority shifts.
- Ability to demonstrate strong communication and team skills.
- Candidates must include a link to their portfolio or provide work samples as part of the application process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience rigging for 3D animation.
- VFX and particle systems a plus
- Passion for MMO video games and what’s trending on mobile.
