Lead 3D Generalist (Real Time) - Freelance

Ustwo is looking for a strong freelance 3D Generalist to join our team working on a 14-week connected product experience. You’ll work with a tight-knit cross-discipline team of developers, designers, artists, and project managers.

To do this, we structure our team around versatile designers who are constantly developing and broadening their wide skill sets. Our teams are highly skilled and multifaceted, collaborating across all disciplines involved in the design and technology process. Our products span across mobile and web, as well as immersive technologies such as AR / VR, all the way to wearables and IoT devices.

YOU HAVE…

• Experience with at least 1 shipped title as a Lead 3D Artist or equivalent
• 5+ years experience in game production and development
• Working knowledge of Maya, or equivalent 3D software
• Working knowledge of Unity
• Ability to sketch your ideas, working from existing concept artwork, and translate them to production ready assets
• Familiarity and experience with the entire art pipeline, including animation, effects, shaders, texturing, and implementation
• An understanding of the limitations that come with mobile hardware
• Familiarity with advanced optimization techniques and approaches for tight hardware budgets

YOU WILL...

• You will work alongside design and development to fully realize interactions in an implementable and modular way
• Quickly generate rough shaders and effects, based on the established art style, to aid with client discussion
• Quickly model 3D assets for design and development approval
• Apply textures, materials, and animations to your models based on design and technical guidelines
• Work within Unity to translate the vision of our design into a fully implemented asset
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary project team in the creation of production schedules, task interdependencies and estimates, and troubleshoot issues
• Share knowledge and understanding of the asset creation approach and pipeline and editor tools within the team
• Ask questions, critique others work constructively, and ideate alongside design and development to create a vision for the experience
• Interface alongside the team with clients and key stakeholders to gather and prioritize feedback

WE'D LOVE IF YOU HAVE…

• Experience in traditional game development approaches to visuals
• Experience with advanced concepts such as effect creation and working with lighting and shaders
• Experience in interaction & product design
• Art and/or Animation academic background

This is a full-time/40-hour a week contract position starting at the beginning of October and lasting through January. Please provide a link to your online portfolio as well as any released games you have contributed to as a 3D artist.
