Klang is looking for Animators who enjoys a collaborative and creative work environment.

Klang is an independent game development studio based in Berlin. It was founded by three Icelanders in the spring of 2013. In July 2015, Klang launched its first project, ReRunners: Race for the World, for iOS and Android devices, which was extremely well-received by both the gaming press and the gaming community. Now, Klang is working on its next project, Seed, a simulation MMO utilizing SpatialOS technology.

YOUR CHALLENGE

• Animate characters with believable performances, reflecting many personalities
• If needed, rig and animate objects, machines and props in collaboration with Art & Game Design
• Communicate with game designers and engineers to implement animations in Unity (i.e. supporting engineers with the animation pipeline)
• Ensure quality and performance of animations given the technical criteria
• Iterate on animations based on creative direction
• Organization and technical supervision of the animation team and tasks
• Maintain an animation bible in collaboration with the Art director, and work with external contractors
• Making the most out of limited technical resources, (i.e. providing readable and beautiful animations with the least bone count possible)

Requirements

WHO WE THINK WILL BE A GREAT FIT:

• You are a video game animator, specifically real-time animation with at least 2 shipped products in your resume. Preferably a 3D MMO or mobile game among them.
• You have a strong understanding of body/organic mechanics and mech animations
• You can take on basic 3D modelling tasks if needed
• You have experience working in an agile development environment
• You have a good sense of task priority in relation to the pipeline and development status
• You are good at communicating with an interdisciplinary and autonomous team in an open and honest environment
• You highly value giving and receiving constructive feedback
• Familiarity with the Unity Engine
• You are able to communicate fluently in English
• You’re willing to relocate to Berlin if a full-time position is offered

NICE TO HAVES:

• Experience working on an MMO, Mobile, or Simulation game
• Experience using the tools and systems related to Unity and Maya
• Scripting knowledge in Maya
