TECHNICAL DESIGNER: CHARACTER, CONTROL AND CAMERA - NOVATO, CA

What We Need:

A Game Designer responsible for the development of player character core mechanics, controls and first person camera. This position stands at the intersection of design, animation and engineering and will coordinate the efforts of those groups to achieve standard-setting player feel and responsiveness. The candidate must also ensure that design documentation is clear, actionable and that it supports the high level direction provided by the Design Director and Lead Game Designer.

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:

A game design guru ready and willing to take ownership of our player character core mechanics, controls and first person camera. Someone who is excited to work closely with engineering, animation, modeling and level design departments to ensure that the player character’s controls harmonize with the overall project design goals. Proven ability to define and utilize tools and tuning systems required to achieve desired results.

Minimum Requirements:

• 3Cs experience on at least one successful AAA title
• 3 to 5 years of game design experience
• Shipped multiple console/PC titles in some capacity
• A deep technical understanding of systems and methods, and a strong sense of the aesthetic quality and player-facing presentation, required to achieve outstanding game feel
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

What You Will Do:

• Create and maintain a living design document that keeps pace with the project's schedule and accurately conveys all necessary information to related disciplines.
• Implement game content, prototypes, and tests using the in house engine tools to facilitate development.
• Lead and mentor associate designers, as well as coordinate multiple disciplines working on the assigned task.
