SUMMARY OF POSITION
Pixelberry Studios is looking for a 2D Technical Animator to work closely with the art team in creating content for Choices: Stories You Play. This is an eight-month contract position with the possibility of extending to a year
Our 2D Technical Animator will assist with the technical setup and provide motion key-framing and particle effects for in-game animations and collectible screens. We are looking for someone with sprite sheet and particle animation expertise in Cocosbuilder or After Effects, etc. Candidates may also have the opportunity to work with our marketing team to conceptualize and execute advertising videos.
Our headquarters is in Mountain View, CA but we can accommodate a remote work environment for a candidate from the following states: CA, OR, WA, and NV.
Currently, all Pixelberry staff are working remotely. Hybrid work model (1 day/week in-office) will be in place once we resume on-site operations, currently scheduled for 2022.
REQUIREMENTS
Conceptual:
- Strong understanding of the principles of animation
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn and adapt to changes quickly
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively present ideas
Technical:
- 2+ years of experience as a technical artist, video compositor, or animator.
- Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects)
- Strong understanding of, and experience with, sprite sheet animation systems
- Strong understanding of animating particle systems in Cocosbuilder or After Effects
- Expertise in optimizing art assets for animation in Photoshop
- Strong understanding of compositing, touchup, tiling, layer styles, and how to save out for animation
- Familiarity with Photoshop actions and batch processes, and an understanding of basic programming logic
- Understanding of art production workflow
Preferred:
- Proficiency with Cocosbuilder
- Familiarity with Version control software skills, e.g. Cornerstone
- Proficient in Unity
