Position Overview
SEGA Sofia’s Development Services team is looking for a bright and motivated individual to join our team as a Mastering & Equipment Technician. This position is an excellent opportunity for people who want to work in a fast paced, technology-driven and fun environment!
As a Mastering & Equipment Technician you will be responsible for supporting testers in their daily tasks, cooperating with development studios and working with First Party Publishers. You will make sure that equipment is ready for testing, updated with the required firmware and free of any technical problems. Regularly you’ll be required to deploy code on test kits and prepare mobile devices for Functionality QA. All these tasks are essential for the timely and quality releases of SEGA Europe!
You’ll also ensure established security practices regarding code and equipment are carried out by all employees. This will build confidence and trust in our partners as a reliable and independent structure.
Additionally, when a software product is released you will maintain code archives and ensure SEGA’s legacy is secure and well preserved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and deploy game code for testing and other purposes when required.
- Preparing submissions for First Party Publishers (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Google, Apple).
- Preparing, mastering and uploading PC game code, incorporating any security/copy protection procedures, for duplication and manufacturing.
- Setting up and maintaining the RFID security system.
- Equipment and code sign in and out. Active implementation and tracking of Mastering Security Policies.
- Preparing internal physical media using specialized Mastering equipment.
- Tracking assignment of hardware and devices.
- Ordering of hardware for all console platforms and QA/PD resources.
- Handling hardware for repairs, including repair process reports and tracking faulty mastering equipment when necessary.
- Maintaining project code and items archive. This includes documented back-up of code milestones, tracking and resolving ongoing space issues on the network for code, and maintaining a Mastering log of daily tasks.
- Technical support for Testers, Development Services, PD and all other areas of the business on a range of issues, including updating of libraries for dev-kits, hardware/software support, code archiving and destruction of media.
- Working towards developing automation procedures for build receipt and verification testing.
- Responsible for receiving & verifying all game archives. This includes establishing a process and requirements to verify the build environment and validity and presence of all data and code required to recompile the game and produce a game executable.
- Ensuring that all game archives are verified upon reception, are securely stored in an agreed location with IT and all appropriate documentation to enable the game to be rebuilt is included with the archive.
The job holder will be expected to execute any additional requests or instructions issued by their Manager or a relevant member of Development Services’ Senior Management team that are suitable to the job remit.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Technical knowledge of Mastering processes (hardware and software related).
- Pro-activeness to think ahead and identify tasks that need to be carried out.
- Focus and motivation to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Clear and concise communication, both written and verbally.
- Flexibility to react quickly, reschedule and prioritise workload.
- Related IT education or work experience

- Knowledge of hardware and software applications (particularly current security and code protection utilities).
