Lumeto’s immersive simulation lab, InvolveXR, aims to meaningfully reduce the social and financial cost of medical error. Flexible training in virtual simulated environments can improve the preparedness and confidence of clinicians globally. Lumeto operates across the healthcare spectrum, catering to educators and learners at every level of their competency, enhancing learning outcomes tied to individual and team decision-making, problem-solving, de-escalation and complex or rare procedures.
The Role
The UX/UI Design Intern will support our UX/UI design strategy and play a key role in product development. We are seeking resourceful and passionate designers who can help us make VR learning a simple and delightful experience. An individual who is disciplined, analytical, and confident will find success in this role. We are a small, flexible team supporting a product with a rapidly expanding feature set, so every day will bring a new learning experience.
This is an hourly, paid internship that requires a 3/4 month commitment of 40 hours per week. The position can accommodate remote work, but will require the candidate to work on a 9am-5pm EST schedule.
Responsibilities
- Support the design process by delivering a coherent project vision from concept through execution.
- Collaborate between design, marketing, subject matter experts, and development teams in order to develop new user-facing features.
- Work with the Product Manager to determine feature scope and plan work priority based on customer and business needs.
- Design the 2D user experience (web and desktop) with design directions and specifications that support iterative development and prototyping. Keep in mind design scalability and the possibility of translation into 3D UI in VR.
- Generate design artifacts (such as user stories, ideation sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, storyboards and prototypes) to support the communication, evaluation and implementation of new design solutions.
- Produce high-quality UI screens with thorough considerations of component interaction, layout and hierarchy, typography, and visual graphics (such as icons and illustrations).
Desired Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a post-secondary program relevant to above internship functions.
- Enthusiasm with Immersive technology (AR, VR, XR) and Healthcare is a plus.
- Able to multitask and manage the workload in a fast-paced agile environment.
- Fluent with Figma and Miro. Knowledge of a research tool like Dovetail is a plus.
- A plus if you can maintain, and set up a Design System.
- A plus if you can maintain and set up product design documentation and user flow.
- Excellent verbal and visual communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into easily understood concepts and set clear expectations.
- Unlimited curiosity and desire to learn new things.
