About the role:
We are looking for a skilled Server Backend Engineer who will share his/her expertise to create the best game experience for our players around the world. As a software engineer you will take a role in developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered, working along with business teams and management to collect requirements.
The Quest:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software for mobile and WebGL games.
- Develop server-side code in PHP.
- Use a combination of MySQL/NoSQL solutions for optimal backend performance.
- Analyze, identify, and eliminate bottlenecks and errors on the server side and ensure efficiency and reliability of code.
- Contribute to the development of new game features and interfaces.
- Create admin tools for A/B testing and deployment via feature flags.
- Push your code to millions of users every day.
The Skills:
- 7+ years of software development experience with an object-oriented language.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Proficient with scalable server-side programming (concurrency / synchronization and distributed systems).
- Proficient in PHP, fluent with PHP’s language reference
- Deep knowledge of database design and optimization.
- Extensive noSQL knowledge
- Relevant experience implementing cache systems (redis, memcache, etc.)
- Relevant cloud experience at a production-quality level
- Live ops experience on projects
- Experience setting up and configuring A/B tests for live projects.
- Strong practical knowledge of current server technologies like REST, SOAP or similar.
- Strong knowledge of at least one mainstream server programming language like Python, C#, Java or NodeJS, in addition to PHP.
- Notions of algorithms and algorithmic complexity
- Strong oral and written English communication skills.
Nice to have:
- Experience in developing complex backend systems using PHP, working with vanilla PHP is a big plus.
- Game Development experience.
- Knowledge of at least one cloud computing services like AWS, Azure or similar
- Experience working with tools like Terrform, Pulumi or CDK.
- Experience with Docker
- Experience working with bash scripts.
- Experience with Couchbase
