Senior Motion Graphics Artist - TFT, Experiences

Motion Graphics Artists concept and give life to high-quality motion projects for Riot Games products. Your technical and creative skills will transform static images into temporal works of art that bring the UI to life. You will work with art leads to make creative decisions that determine how visual elements within the UI come to life. Through collaboration with other visual artists, game designers, audio designers, QA and engineers, you'll help usher in the next generation of player experience in Teamfight Tactics.

As a Senior Motion Graphics Artist on Teamfight Tactics, you will contribute to in-game and around-game aspects of Teamfight Tactic's UI. You will craft animatics, design eye-catching transitions / interactive states, and visualize full motion user flows in After Effects. You will translate your designs into real-time executions by working directly in our game engine, bringing the UI to life in a performant yet visually polished manner.

You will work with other disciplines on the SPEAR initiative and will collaborate to enhance the holistic player experience. SPEAR is the initiative that owns Ranked & Around Game experiences on Teamfight Tactics. You will report to the SPEAR Initiative Art Director.

Responsibilities

• Create UI animatics out of static visual designs, following the Teamfight Tactics and League of Legends quality, style and motion conventions
• Work in our proprietary game engine to bring your motion designs to the player experience
• Implement your animations in the most efficient way, carefully balancing performance and visual quality for our range of supported PC and Mobile devices
• Collaborate with a team of UX, Audio, Visual Design and Engineering experts to design + bring new UI to life
• Drive workflow improvements to unlock the potential for you and fellow artists
• Represent the motion graphics craft to the team, seeking opportunities to contribute to or pitch new product features
• Reinforce the product's goals by breathing life into the player experience
• Balance craft and product feedback with a strong empathy and focus on player value
• Participate in the motion graphics Communities of Practice at Riot to further establish your craft and level up the discipline

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience working in the UI space for games or interactive / real-time media
• Demonstrated experience in creating motion graphics for UI: celebrations, design systems, notifications, HUDs, interactive states, screen transitions etc
• Mastery in Adobe Suite (After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator)
• Well-versed with VFX / particle plugins: Trapcode Suite, xparticles, etc
• Strong understanding of version control tools and game dev workflow / pipelines
• Knowledge of best practices for optimized implementation

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in 3D modeling / animation (Maya, 3DSMax, Cinema 4D, or Blender)
• Experience in a game engine like Unreal / Unity
• Experience in Figma
• Experience working as a visual designer for UI / UX
• Knowledge of League of Legends / Teamfight Tactics IP and style
