Role Overview

We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our friendly and experienced remote team. You will report to the Manager of Production Infrastructure Engineering, and work on the cloud infrastructure of Second Life, supporting all of its applications, the simulator environments, network, and file storage infrastructure. Ability to work in an infrastructure-as-code driven environment is desired. We produce and maintain a great deal of custom tooling, and the ability to work with and develop that is also a plus. We interact with most every other engineering group in the company and provide guidance and stewardship around Second Life’s usage of AWS.

Second Life's huge, persistently simulated virtual topography runs 24/7. Our group has a production focus with a light on-call component. We also maintain and develop a body of internal tooling code. You will be given the time and support needed to grow your knowledge of technical areas of interest and advance your skills.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

At Linden, we celebrate all the dimensions of diversity, including diversity of experience. We recognize that candidates applying for this role will be most successful if they bring the following with them:

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with production operational systems, platforms, and services. Cloud experience (AWS specifically) would be especially relevant. Other organizations might call these teams Site Reliability, Devops, Cloud Ops, Infrastructure engineering, Tech Ops, or similar
• A Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
• Experience with cloud environments - preferably AWS (ECS, S3, EC2, RDS, VPC)
• Knowledge of Cloudformation and Terraform - especially transitioning to TF
• Experience with Python and other scripting languages such as bash/shell
• Skilled with relational databases - especially MySQL
• Experience with containerized workloads, docker, and ECS
• Experience with content distribution networks, caching, and networking
• Knowledge of monitoring systems and ability to troubleshoot problems
• Knowledge of Github Actions
